Yvette V. Windham, President

Demetris Windham is a Senior Engineer who specializes in Building Sciences / Weatherization, and proudly acts as the EVP of Ten:Twenty-Seven, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that assist individuals and organization implement business operation strategies and sustainable energy initiatives.

After working as a senior engineer for 20+ years, Demetris realized his passion to educate his clientele on the importance of making environmental modifications that affect climate change. While educating and advocating for sustainable energy initiatives, Demetris educates residents on how the structure of a building is a system much like the body, which relies on essential components to reach Building Scientific Capacity.

Demetris is passionate about educating the community he serves. The lesson that tugs at his heart is illustrating how some measures, performed with the best of intentions, can lead to inadvertent demise. He recounts the story of the “Buzzing carbon dioxide (“CO2”) reader”. Years ago, during one of his first audits, while interviewing the client, assessing the building structure and internal space, he and the client noticed an alarm. Realizing the signal was coming from his CO2 reader, he immediately instructed the client to vacate the house. Once they arrived safely outside of the house, Demetris’ childhood memory of his mother warming their apartment by using the oven prompt him to investigate if the client was adhering to the same practice. When confirmed, Demetris was able to educate the client on how CO2 leaks are a silent killer and further shared symptoms that present when appliances are not regulated. The client immediately began to thank him and explained that while she was aware that detectors are important, this experience revealed the essentialness of the devices, and would cause her to immediately equip her house and champion the cause of sharing how small environmental gauges can yield large outcomes.

Demetris clings to the belief that in order to speak to climate change, individuals must be educated on renewal and clean energy. While global leaders unite to address environmental change on a large platform, Demetris’ passion prompts advocating at the community level. “The gratitude that clients display after service is provided is an awesome feeling. It’s humbling to connect with people you’re trying to help and rewarding when they understand the lesson.”

Demetris’ formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Texas Southern University and multiple National certifications in building performance and OSHA 30.  In addition to educating his clientele, Demetris serves with pleasure as a mentor to high school and college aged youth.
